  • Ocean Reflection Flickering Speed

    I am creating a night time scene were I have a cruise ship, and the lights are reflecting on an Ocean texture.

    My problem is that the reflection is flickering too much and the speed of the ocean texture is too fast. I have tried slowing down the motion of the texture from the Time Bend Controls settings without any success.

    Any help would be much appreciated!!

    Lower your wind speed in the texture.

      Hi! There's an option called Rate of Change which is in the Ocean Texture settings. This option controls how fast the ocean waves would be moving.

        Thanks for your reply. These are my ocean Texture settings, and the waves are still rendering really fast.

          You can increase your meter scale or the Wind Speed - this will help with the speed but note that it will change the overall look of the waves.

            I tested this option with the latest nightly build and it works. At 0.001 the waves should be pretty motionless. Which Phoenix version do you use? And would you please archive the scene and attach it here to see what's going on?

              when "control by wind speed" is enabled, this means the scene scale is important, in your case perhaps it is inches or cm, this causes the fast movement.

                Has anyone else found the Rate of Change is causing their ocean simulation to have slight inconsistencies between frames? Almost looks like flickering because of the difference between the wave positions in frames
