  • Initial Fill "Level Indicator"

I've recently had to deal with some very large water surface simulations and the scene files containing the exact water level were given to me to match. I started with an initial fill value to just get in the ballpark of where I needed it to be...but if the "Y" height value of the fluid container changes to whatever its going to be, the initial fill water lever becomes obviously different.
Would there be an easy way to just put a thicker "tick mark" on the side of the fluid container showing where the current initial fill water level is going to be? OR a temporary slightly transparent plane showing the same level?
I would find this extremely useful in setting up different shots where for some reason the water levels need to be changed to make a simulation work or higher or lower in general

Yeah I had to do a bunch of test renders to match this. Best presim a lot if frames to get the water to settle first as well. Seems like a waste at first, but well worth it.

      Hey,

Unfortunately the fluid simulator has a certain precision, allowing you to work with it within reasonable time limits. To get a very precise liquid simulation that does not need to settle, you have to use a very high amount of Steps per Frame, which is not practical, so indeed the faster way is to give the container some time to settle...

      Cheers!
