  • Interaction on Motion Velocity Effect

    Hi,

In search of better control and better wake/foam simulations I have, again, a suggestion.
It's somewhat related to the topic on the control of foam patterns and the ability to plug textures: https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...attern-control

Some weeks ago, I had some interesting results by animating the Motion Velocity Effect of the boat Hull.
The problem is that this Motion velocity effect setting works for the complete hull. My idea, my wish, would be to be able to plug a texture into this motion velocity effect, with a multiplier, to have a variation of the effect on the hull.
Ideally, I would like to get information from the ocean texture, extract some kind of height map, and plug this height map into the motion velocity effect of the hull.
The effect would be that when a bigger wave hits the hull, the effect is much more pronounced that when the trough hits the hull. So, white height map generates more motion velocity effect than black height map. This would automatically create some interesting and probably realistic variations on the wake, splash, foam creation.

Would something be do-able or is too weird ?

    cheers

Hey, it's moderately weird, but it's doable. I believe we already even have it logged already,.so will bump the value.

    Thanks!

It would be great if something similar could be done !
