  • "Value multiplier" helper / force

    Heya Folks!

Just thinking again about the issues of blending a sim to the infinite grid where you've got lots of movement trying to line up with an area that has none and there being no way to "calm" an area of the sim. would it be possible to get some kind of force helper which is a channel multiplier? So you could have either a box / sphere helper or a bit of scene geometry where you could set a multiplier value to influence the values within the surrounded cells? Say for example you've got a sim which is splashing a bit too much in one area but great everywhere else, you'd be able to surround this area with some geo and set a multiplier on it's velocity to 0.5 so anything entering this area could be calmed down a little bit. Of course there'd be some kind of falloff control on it to softly blend on / off the effect.

Likewise I was looking at doing a sim of something melting a while back and a control like this would be great for having certain areas frozen / slow by constantly killing their velocity values until you want them to start moving.

    Cheers!

Currently, won't the 3ds Max Drag Force work for that if we are talking only about velocity? Otherwise, for channels, it's the brush source, but it has no falloff. Ah! Or a mapper - you can use it with texture-mapped falloff.
