  • Render Elements

(Cross posting from my public forum post)
It would be good if we could output render elements that match the output channels of the simulation - temperature, velocity, etc. Additionally, the VRayLightSelect element would be very useful, I understand it currently doesn't work with PFD.

I want to use these to achieve the effects seen in this video:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gL_-JY7wryI
    (see 25:15)

They use a custom normal map from placing 6 lights (VRayLightSelect), temperature to drive a gradient in a shader, and velocity to drive frame blending when slowing down the playback in a shader.

    Hey,

If you need the raw simulation output like temperature, fuel, velocity, maybe you can use the grid texture to extract them and use them as diffuse colors or opacities.

If you need slices, then you can use this method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PQnlukzHls

Or alternatively, if you just need the emission and diffuse, you can use V-Ray's self-illumination and diffuse filter elements.

We have it planned to add Phoenix-specific render elements, I just hope we can get there soon

    Cheers!

Oh cool i can use grid tex with VRayExtraTex so I can do it all in one pass.
