        My mistake, your OP seemed to imply the issues were with CPU (hence the comparison with Corona, a CPU engine) and then you also added
        AFAIK it also doesn't function in VRay GPU.
        which further reinforced my idea you had issues with the volumetric shader in both.
        Indeed, GPU has an issue with the setup above, but would work to get a similar result if using the env. fog plus gizmos. However, agreeably, it's more convoluted to set up, and has overall less options.
        Again, sorry for the mishap.
