  • minor one - the vray material library doesn't add it's root path to maps when added to a scene

    Heya folks!

I wanted to make a quick scene so looked at the chaos cosmos and material library browsers. In my max 2022 install and the vray 6 build from may 10th, when I add a material to my scene, the paths to the bitmaps are only containing their location in the library but not the root path of the material itself. For example my install is in the D:\work\libraries\Vray materials\ folder but I'm getting "assets\Metal\Grunge_P_hires_lin_srgb.tx" as my map paths from the metal_weathered_p01_20cm preset. I've deleted the library and done a few new installs of vray 6 just to make sure.

    All good!

It should work fine if you add the root path to the user paths in Max, does it not?

Is that the expected usage for the cosmos materials? I'd have though they'd be more drag and drop? No problem if not!

I didn't quite understand - the issue is with materials from Cosmos, or from the material library that gets downloaded separately? The Cosmos materials should be drag&drop, I've never had to modify the 3ds Max texture paths to get them to work. And the installer should add the path to the material library assets to the 3ds Max bitmap paths (although I seem to remember this only worked on the second run of 3ds Max or something).

Btw the standalone material library will be folded into Cosmos for the official release of V-Ray 6.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

Yep - the material library isn't getting it's paths properly, cosmos is working totally fine!
