  • Vray6 beta crashes after opening the material editor

Sorry for my first post in this forum, I installed Vray6 and when I can't wait to start using it.
It always crashes when I open the material editor and start previewing the material sphere.
    Can anyone help me, thanks!

Welcome, and there's nothing to be sorry about!

Do you mean it crashes when you doubleclick on a material editor preview sphere to make it bigger?
Or as the material editor starts?
Which material editor: slate or the compact one?

Hey wong_wei and welcome to the forums,

What driver are you using? and what version of 3Ds Max?

        Lele, thanks for your reply.
I'm using slate material editor and it crashes after a while after I open the material editor.
I tried to delete the 3DSMax user profile, it does not work.

          Hello,

Do you have third party plugins like ForestPack and RailClone ? They are not compatible with the new V-Ray 6 Beta yet so they will crash.

          Best regards,
          Yavor

Do you have some 3rd party plugin installed? Like Forest Pack? Most of those are not compatible with V-Ray 6 and need an update from the respective vendors.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Just in case, download the recent recommended driver 512.59
Make sure to check custom install, then check clean install option
then restart the machine if it doesnt automatically

                      I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and guess it's this problem: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures\UPI20XXBase\UPI\upiconfi g.xml

Meaning the 20XX whichever version you're using is missing, having the same problem as the OP, apparently that folder is missing which might be the culprit. If that's the case it's an Autodesk issue. I could be wrong however.

So we checked the dump file and found the reason for the crash. It's always a good idea to clear previous crack files before installing a legal copy of V-Ray.

Thanks, I don't know how to clean the crack file, does it have a path?

Am I reading this correctly? So you installed pirated software and are now asking the company you essentially stole from to help you clean up your mistakes?
