  • GPU results applicable to Vantage?

I’m curious: are GPU results comparable to Vantage or are they not completely representative?

    Hey jujubee

There is no easy answer. Keep in mind that Vantage makes use of dedicated raytracing hardware in Turing and Ampere GPUs, so you will find a 2080ti 7 times faster than a 1080ti for example
V-Ray GPU also makes use of tensor cores in RTX mode, but Vantage gets much bigger speed boosts. There are some Vantage performance results that were shared in GTC on Chaos TV

Another point is that V-Ray GPU scales with multiple GPUs, scaling is near linear in most cases. Vantage only uses 2 GPUs, and will use a lot more PCIe bandwidth than V-Ray GPU, so multi-GPU results will not be accurate for Vantage

What could be a bit accurate is comparing single GPU results in the same GPU family, and try to set the filter to average.
So a 3090 will be twice as fast as a 3060 roughly, this applies to both Vantage and V-Ray GPU
