  • Odd behavior? RTX 3090

I am not sure if this is not an issue but when I start the RTX test in vray 5 benachmkark. The GPU usage in the task manager will go to 10% for the first couple of seconds after "preparing" is done but then it'll go down to 0-3% (Idle behavior) for the rest of the render. The only thing being affected is the temperature going from 40C to 60C so some change is recorded there.
Is that just an issue of task manage reporting the wrong thing or could there be something else amiss?

You need to change one of the graphs to CUDA. Left click on "video encode" and change to cuda.

      Hello Oliver,

most likely it's task manager's fault, since it's not the most reliable way to track the performance of a GPU.
You can try nvidia-smi, or msi afterburner, and let us know if the problem still shows up.

      Best regards,
      Daniel

EDIT: I didn't saw 1funk's reply, but while choosing the Cuda graph is an option, it doesn't appear on all Task Managers.

If you dont see Cuda you can select Compute_0.

I prefer to use GPU-Z for this stuff though. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/
