  • V-Ray 2.0 Beta 3 available

    Hello,

    Beta 3 is now available from our site; the changelog from Beta 2 is as follows:

    Modified features:
    (*) V-Ray RT can be used as production renderer (with support for V-Ray VFB, if selected);
    (*) Ability to adjust the orientation of IES profiles in VRayIES;
    (*) Added an indication for the orientation of the VRayLightMeter in the viewport;

    Bug fixes:
    (*) Fixed crash with VRayBPTracer when Default lights are disabled;
    (*) VRayBPTracer did not work with VRayBlendMtl materials;
    (*) VRayLightMeter displayed the day light factor incorrectly;
    (*) VRayExposureControl affected the rendering even if it was not active;
    (*) Fixed noisy rendering with VRayExposureControl and gamma correction in the Color mapping settings;
    (*) VRayStereoscopic did not work with VRayMtlID render element;
    (*) V-Ray RT CPU: Support for the dim reflections option in VRayMtl;
    (*) V-Ray RT CPU: Support for dispersion in VRayMtl;
    (*) V-Ray RT GPU: Fixed an issue with environment maps on multiple GPUs;

          It will probably be the last beta version, but we still have some time to fix any other urgent issues.

              Yes, its beta 3, just download and install (uninstall previous version).

                  Aside from the ability to save frames out, is there any advantage to using RT as the production engine instead of ActiveShade? I strictly use it as a preview engine for Vray at this point (need too many things that RT doesn't support yet, and res is always an issue)

                    You can use it on a render farm to queue stills or animation previews through back burner, for example.

                      Beta 3 ? Now how did I mist that on earth... I'm still stuck in Beta 1 lol doh !

                      Now where is that beta 3 in download section? I can only find that beta 1 or did u replace the files? / yup file replaced....

                      The production render thing... can it output filters?

                        cannot animation rendering. (Both CPU, GPU)
                        Even though it sets Max time and Max paths, it does not progress to the 2nd frame.

                        Is this a feature of Beta3?
                        By the feature which already existed by Beta1.

                          Is this on any scene? If you turn on the statistics, what happens after it reaches the specified number of paths? Works for several tests here.

                            Is this on any scene? If you turn on the statistics, what happens after it reaches the specified number of paths? Works for several tests here.
                            It found occurring only by the 3ds Max 2011 64bit version and VRay 2.0 Beta3.
                            (Maybe at least 64 bits of 2010 and 2009 ...)
                            3ds Max 2011 32bit and VRay 2.0 Beta3 have no problem.

                            OS is windows7. I sent screen capture to you.

                            Ahhhhh, it is orientation of the "icon". understood

                              Dispersion UI weird...

                              It's a small thing but why is the checkbox label "Dispersion" greyed out until I check the box? Shouldn't it always be active and checking or unchecking it activates the "Abbe" spinner. It just seems different from all of the other controls.
