    Hi peter,

Sounds good! Vlado mentioned something about altering parameters so that they match a bit more compared to previous builds. Will this already been done in the upcoming build? It's important to know before we start testing it again

    kind regards,

It's almost midnight in Arizona....I've been expecting the new build all day as promised by Peter.

Come on guys, we all (well most anyways) have jobs and if we don't meet our deadlines, especially ones that we ourselves promise, then bad things happen.

I you can't make the deadline, don't say you can. It just makes you look unprofessional & gets a lot of people upset.

maybe they think its fun that the stupid customers sit in front of their pc´s and wait for santa claus?

i wonder why they make another announcement they can not hold.
is this a psychological test? vray user as trained pavlos dog´s?

make a posting when the new build is ready for download.
a suprise is always welcome but not a missed date.

there are still a few who will wait the whole day and night that the build is release, only to be frustrated when its delayed again.

                  Long John,

If I am included in that "...stupid customers..." remark; I show at this forum definitely less frequently than you. Is that your daughter in the avatar? She is a cute girl an surely represents how you have shown you feel.

it´s not that i think the customers are stupid but thats how some salesman think.
i call a few my friends and i know how they talk.

No disrespect, but this is what's wrong with this place and a lot of other boards come to think of it. There are a awfull lot of people that are thinking what I am actualy saying! but are afraid (perhaps the wrong word) of comments just like that. Long John being an exception
It's your round, by the way

Vlado may very well be fixing it, but the point I am trying to make here is that why should it need fixing in the first place? There have been numerous internal builds only available to a few of you since 1.45.70. Any serious bugs like this should have been picked up on to start with, and there should be no excuse for releasing a completly useless build to your paying customers.
Now Vlado say's it will be fixed in the next build, but what does that mean to a non VRay FanBoy like me and quite a few others around here?
Does it mean that there is now going to be another couple of internal builds for the few, and another 2 month's of waiting for something that vaguely resembles where we were 2 years ago for the rest of us?

I just wan't a usable version including DR that I can use with Max6. Nothing more. Isn't that what we paid for ?

                      Marzz.

Most ot the stuff you've written here has been discussed before and there is nothing new that I can add. I'll try to cover most of the topics above.

First of all - pardon me, but you are softly speaking (I'm not gonna use the language you use) you VRay is not where it used to be 2 years ago. Perhaps I should go into detail and clear that out, so there is no confusion regarding the development of V-Ray?

Next, we specifically put these builds into the BETA section. Which means - STILL TESTING. Which means - come and see, but be careful.
Having tight production deadlines and using a new BETA version of newly released software - doesn't sound reasonable to me. Does it? Or perhaps some of the users know that our beta work much better than expected from a beta, and trust their production with a beta build? I don't know... some major productions did use some of the beta builds and seemed to be happy with it. Others were not - depends on which features were used.

I held the build I mentioned to be released last night. The reason is that we did have it fixed yesterday in the afternoon, but we found out that were some other problems and I insisted on having it better tested and fixed. That is why we stayed up till the morning and did not release it.

My apologies but I could not have that build released with the problems we discovered.

and there should be no excuse for releasing a completly useless build to your paying customers
: The cutomers are given the chance to see the new features in a BETA build. So what you are saying that beta bulds are useless? Sorry - I can't really agree with you here.

And there is nothing new I can say about the delay of the 1.5 final relase. I can only say that there was a lot more added, agani. And that we are entering our final phase - features have been freezed. Only bug fixes from now on.

                        The 1.46.05 is out.
                        Peter

no I dont think so. Now that the build has become public, Im sure that the bug fixes will be public. He stated that no new features will be added, all bug fixes from now on.

whats interesting to me is that some of you people are using the beta in production and then bitching when it has problems. What part of beta dont you understand? Vlado and others have stated time and again that use the beta at your own risk. I mean even the download page splits up the builds between stable work release and beta.

Its one thing to come on and report bugs. Even understandable to be frustrated. IM FRUSTRATED. But I just cringe when I hear people begging for bug fixes, stating they have deadlines and so on and so forth. A company I just got hired at, hasn't even TRIED the beta. And they aren't going to. AFAIK, never intended to. Their going to wait for 1.5 and call it good. At first I was perplexed. All those goodies they're missing. Then it occurred to me just how smart they are.

Honestly, I think a few of the people on this forum have finally woken vlado up to not releasing beta's to ANYONE. I suspect that in the future, noone is going to be allowed to use internal betas, and if they are, wont be able to say squat about them. I find THAT frustrating.

The whole VRay thing is a perpetual beta, so how can anybody say "If your stupid enough to use a beta in a production environment blah! de blah!"
Im not begging for bug fixes because of deadlines, I just want to be able to use VRay for what I brought it for.

If your using Max5 then no problem. The last stable build 1.09x is just fine. But the industry is now turning to Max7. What have we got? Beta builds that are supposed to be beta tested before making them generaly available.
So what I say about being where we were 2 years ago is completely true. I'm having to use 1.09x!! in max5 while max6 sit's idle, and 7 is just a meaningless number on a box.

Peter, you can go on and on telling me how great VRay is, but it don't alter the fact that I can't use it in my production pipeline as I would want to.
2 years after purchasing, and many promises about max6 later. I'm getting pretty sick of it all.

Now the new 05 build is out, let's hope that the Major prob's are sorted and I can get on with my business instead of wasting my time around here talking to deaf ears.
