  • VolumeGrid Instancing

After some intitial testing, it seems there are still issues with the rendering of volumegrid-instances in Vray Next (only renders some of the instances) https://snag.gy/9OiVbF.jpg

and Vray GPU Next IPR and Render (does seem to render all instances but it clips the volumes on overlapping volume bounding boxes) https://snag.gy/EB7hOm.jpg

Is there a way to up the number of transparancy-levels in Vray GPU?

I tried both rendering as volumetric and volumetric geometry and enabling/disabling Optimize Big Volumetric Grids.

    Any ideas?

+1 for the same problem in 3.6

If I try to drag / drop a volume grid or a phoenix smoke / fire simulator it looks fine in the viewport but only the original appears in the render. I'll be trying to render a looooooot of vdbs over the next while so any pointers would be useful! Also it'd be amazing to have the instancer support scattering of vdb's for filling a sky with clouds easily!

      Hey,

Unfortunately there are some known issues with intersecting volumes on the GPU - we're aware of the problem and I hope we can have a fix soon.
As for the instancing - it's still work in progress. It should come at some point but I can't give an exact date.
