  • Max 2019 - Xrefs scenes not showing up in the master scene?

Does anybody else have this problem with Max 2019 (no updates) ? I've got an Xref scene which I've referenced in my master scene and 90% of the time I open the master file I can't see the referenced scene. I can see the objects in Scene Explorer but they are with the closed/empty eye icon as if they are hidden but they are not hidden in the Xref scene, I double checked. Now I have to have the Xref scene (500 mb) exist in the master scene and fill up drive space every time I save an iteration of the master scene. Or delete all merged Xref objects before saving the iteration and then merging them back again. This really starts getting on my nerves after having to deal with this for a 2nd day in a row. First time I encounter this oddity. Argh...

I wonder if this could help. Personally I don't love how references work in Max or Maya, but I think smartrefs are a step in the right direction. Pretty neat plugin.

Thanks but I'll pass. I will not pay $200 for something that should already work. I'd rather switch back to Max 2016.
