  • GPU Next take forever to "prepare"

    Hi Guys

I have a scene with about 10Mil polys with a simple building, some proxy cars and bunch of laubwerk trees in forest objdcts. I'm doing some lowres tests.
On CPU, with defaults, I change noise to 0.05. The entire thing, including scene preparation and rendering, takes 2min 29seconds

On GPU, it take about5 seconds to render, which is awesome by the way, but scene preparation takes almost 6 minutes!

Unfortunetely I cant share the scene, just wanted to see what other users expereinces are!

My scene is a "matte" scene by the way and in GPU it appears to also not render the background, and the alpha seems wrong (background in a camera per pixel, linked to the rendercam)

This is the first exterior scene I'm using with Next. All my interior scenes worked great so far with Next GPU, although I don't think they were pushing 10mil polys

I think you should share it with support, only way to fix that. I share scenes for clients couple of times without any problem, they will not share it of course, dont worry.

Can you get us the V-Ray log file? In any case, it would be good to get in touch with our support team at support@chaosgroup.com - even if you can't share the scene, maybe you can arrange a remote session so that they can get an idea of what's going on.

      Best regards,
      Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

Thanks, I'll attempt to schedule a Skype session this week and screenshare with support...
