  • Bercontile on Next GPU - I dont get it?

    Hi Guys

The docs says Berconmaps is supported. However the foot note says only noise is supported:
    https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...tedFeatures-13
...although noise is only supported if you use 1 color? and color2 as mappable?

    Errr ok, is bercontile supported?
I'm trying bercon tile with defaults (without using berconnoise anywhere), but the log window gives me a warning of "Using unsupported UVW Mapping Type for Bercon noise (in Map #2tex_0_uvwgen)

Can somebody from Chaos translate that into less gobbledygook and just explain it in plain english?

    Kind Regards,
    Morne

There is a footnote here https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...tedFeatures-13 "13 – V-Ray GPU supports only BerconNoise map within the following limitations: only Color #1; Color #2 and Size parameters are supported as mappable. Distortion and Use function curve options are not supported."

Bloody hell Blago, you're giving me now the same shit Autodesk has been the last few days. Did you even read my post?

What was it - you either die a hero or you live long enough to become the villain
Sorry, my bad - each texture has UVW generator, some of which can be procedural. Not all procedural UVW generators are supported in V-Ray GPU. The one for bercon tile is not.
When a texture or uvw generator is not supported, V-Ray GPU either bakes it (if possible) or just draws some default color. Keep in mind that baking is made on a plane, not on the actual object, so it might also look incorrect.

          1) Your initial reply was the cherry on the cake from a string of bad experiences I've had this whole week. Still, I shouldnt have answered so rudly, apologies for that

          2) OK thanks. Any way to get around it then? The guys on the OSL pages are giving me some thoughts on recreating what I need using that, possibly the tiling feature of Zap's rivet shader, but then again, I don't know if that one is supported with GPU?
Anything I could maybe do with the vraypluginnode or vraypluginnodetex?

          Kind Regards,

Hey Morne how are you? From your follow up it seems like you are looking for a way to transform textures? If so, have you tried this one?

Hi Rens, thanks I'll take a look
So the OSL's have to be loaded into a VRayOSLmtl correct? You can't use the native max one? (for GPU)
              Kind Regards,
              Morne

V-Ray GPU supports GLSL and MDL, no native support for OSL (yet).
