  • Exporting vrmat and vray proxy and using it in sketchup

    Hello,

Maybe this will be better in sketchup section of the forum, but max is a starting base...

I have a scene with a grass and complex material and I'm trying to export that grass as a vray proxy and import it in sketchup and use it there.
So, I have managed to export it as vray proxy, that was easy, and then in max tools -> v-ray vrmat converter and I have .vrmat.

So, in sketchup I import the vray proxy and materials are missing, although, there are materials with random colors...
Then I import the vrmat to the sketchup, but some of the sub-materials are just white... (attached screenshot) and when I want to edit the material, I won't open some of the maps.
Also, I don't know how to replace those random colors with the real materials.

    Could anyone help?

    Thanks!

Vrmat doesn't support all possible shading networks in 3ds Max, simple materials would work fine but more complex ones might give such errors. A better and easier way to get a data from 3D Studio Max into Sketchup to use .vrscene files instead of proxies and .vrmats. This approach will preserve the same materials as in 3D Studio Max but it downside is that you won't be able to edit them in SketchUp. If editing materials is necessary then the best approach is to recreate materials in SketchUp.

          I have another question.
In 3ds max, units and scale are OK, but when I export .vrsceneand import it in sketchup, some .vrscene have a too large scale. I found out that it's exported in inches and I need to scale it by 0.39 in order to get some of the objects to the right scale. This is not happening to the all scenes, just on some.
What could be the issue here?

          Thank you!

see what Max's scene units are when you export. You should setup your skp scenes to match the Max's scene units PER scene
            Kind Regards,

Centimeters both, but still not at right scale :/
I even tried changing units to millimeters and inches in both max and sketchup, but still, too large scale.

are you changing max SCENE units or max DISPLAY units? (its 2 different things)
                Kind Regards,
