V-Ray GPU support GLSL and MDL, there will be no OSL support for V-Ray GPU in the next SP.
We also support beron noise. Other bercon textures are not planned for the next SP. Do you really need all of them?
We research the ignore background support for bucket mode.
Our new toon shader will work on the GPU at some point. It is much better than VRayToon.

Can you point me to the thread where you reported this, or if not, can you send me an example to vlado@chaosgroup.com?

          Best regards,
          Vlado
Thanks vlado for clearing that up. One thing though..

In 4.02.04.00003 it mentions a new feature

          Initial support for direct rendering of CoronaMtl and most materials from the Corona material library;

Any chance you can explain what that means and how it is used..

I wouldn't be supprised if the vfb2 will take a few month more. I mean, they're essentally reprogramming photoshop or nuke. That probably takes some time.

The work on the VFB2 was paused a while back, near the announcement of RTX cards and project Lavina.
Not sure if it is still paused until now, but would be nice to know if there is a timeline for it.

Probably I've missed this announce or post from some Chaos people about this but it sounds a bit strange cause I can't see the reason to stop something that is related to all the Vray versions in order to develop something really experimental and very far from a commercial release.
I'm quite sure that Chaos has people resource to develop VFB2 and RTX projects together.

My last info about VFB2 was related to a general "during the development of NEXT will release it" (as develop I mean SPs after the main release).

bardo Project Lavina and the new RT tech are very important for Chaos Group and their prdoucts. They wouldn't prioritize it on the new VFB, unless this is 100% the correct move for them. They really know how to handle their resources
The developer working on the new VFB is Vlado Nedev, who is also the developer for Vray for Modo. He has been working on project Lavina recently as far as I know
I don't know if it is still paused until now, I would love to know if there is a timeline for the new Virtual frame buffer. The Demo that was published last january I think was very promising.
That being said, no rush at all on my side. I do know that the new VFB will take a lot of time and there were no false promises from Chaos Group. They said it will not make it to Vray Next official release.
And I'm really satisfied with progress and amount of updates that Vray CPU/GPU get. Chaos Group is way ahead of competition in this.

Vlado talked about the new VFB development and progress a while back on CG garage podcast and he mentioned it again in his recent Siggraph speech.

                            Ok. So I've missed something.

Sure, you can see it here. First post, third image. There is a square artifact just above the speaker cover. We identified an object that has cast shadows of as the cause.

                                - Better material preview
                                - Better VFB (as shown a year ago)

Please o please, let these be in Next SP1 so I can make the switch. Vray would be perfect for me if it had these.
+1! Honestly I think a loose roadmap would be great. Users would really appreciate transparency, I think. It helps us plan.
