set your Raytracing Seconday Ray Bias to .001 and all renders fine.

even better would be to use a shell modifer, as the ray bias fix causes some different image errors.

            Hi percydaman

How do I need to use the shell mod to solve this?

            Thanks

if raybias is fixing it, it sounds like you have coplanar faces

it means having two faces that exist in the exact same location

so when it comes time to render, the computer gets confused as to which it should be displaying

Coplanar faces appears to be the problem indeed. If you edit the mesh you can delete one face and there is another right behind. It might be worth your time to clean out the extra faces from one band of the tire and then do a circular array to make a new tire.

Yep your right PixelJockey some or most faces are doubled up which causes the problem.

So its down to the crap model not a V-ray prob, "not produced by me I must add"

                        Thanks
