  • Rendering the final image, Max or Standalone?

I have a main workstation and 2 nodes. For the final image I‘m usually using all 3 PCs via Max and DR. How do you guys handle the final render? Standalone and keep the workstation free or traditional via Max? I’m talking small studios and freelance environments.

Personally I use Back Burner for everything, even on one machine because as a service, if any power cut happens or I want to render 10 different mini jobs it just works and restarts itself. But then I only do animation so not sure about single images.

You can use backburner to start dr jobs on your render slaves that keeps the workstation free for work and you don't have to export your scenes. You can even start the spawner on your workstation when you go for lunch and let it join the render for a few buckets/passes.
German guy, sorry for my English.

You should definitely take advantage of backburner with your setup. It is free, easy to use and works very well.
