How is everybody approaching leaf shaders with vray gpu? In particular the translucency? We have not been able to achieve a decent result at all.
With CPU its possible to get a really nice result but with GPU its pretty much impossible. Anybody got any tips/ideas? Or anyone from chaos know if translucency will ever be supported in GPU?
How do the guys at chaos recommend to create leaf translucency in GPU?
See below for very quick examples of the difference between GPU and CPU. This is a very basic 2 sided material (only using colours and no maps). For the gpu version I have the translucency in the 2 sided material set to about 180 and for the cpu version I am using a simple light green colour in the vray mat translucency (hybrid mode).
