I'm using it on a rug and it looks flawless - but it's outrageously slow. Tried for a long time to recreate the effect it's giving with a regular vray material / 2 sided etc and they don't look anywhere near as good.
I did notice that the hairmtl version has full environment reflections - is there any way to reduce the reflection depth, switch it off, etc?
Here's a comparison, identical geometry in both -
The way the vray hair material catches all the tufts, darkens the underside and smoothes out the overall color is perfect. The regular material one in comparison manages to look simultaneously flat and blotchy.
Any tips to speed this up?
Now that i've made it and seen how long it takes to render i'm not sure we can afford the hit of the hair version.
