  • Do proxies render slower?

    Hi all,

Ive recently delved into using proxies and through searching I found that a lot of forums suggest they are slower to render than normal meshes but these all seem to be older forum posts
so i was wondering if this is still the case?

    Thanks

It's not really a case about speed, the main advantage is less memory during rendering (and they also make your max file size lighter)
    Kind Regards,

Ok that makes sense, i was just weary of if i want to optimise my scenes if that would actually make them slower but ill only use them when needed.

It depends i'd say. If your default geometry is set to static and the proxies fit into your RAM than they are loaded and kept in RAM. If not they may be dynamically read from disk especially when RAM is becoming an issue. Then things can get slower. At least that's how it used to be.
