  • 3GB switch causes HD to react weird?

    Hi,

While testing other stuff, I noticed something weird. When I save a max file, my system freezes for a few seconds.

At first I thought it was winamp, because my music stopped for a few seconds also. But it was freezing without winamp also...

It happens even with the simplest scene.

When I startup windows without the 3GB switch, everything works fine (but then I don't have the 3GB switch, and I need it!)

This only happens to max files, I can save photoshop or whatever other file just fine.

Any idea why the 3GB switch would cause this behavior?

I know all drivers must be winXP certified or something, and I know for sure this is not the case here. It's impossible to have only that kind of drivers, even my monitor drivers gave me this warning I believe.

    Kind regards,

    wouter

Maneswar Cheemalapati described on the discreet board that some systems need the additional /USERVA switch to work properly with 3GB. I don't know if this is the case with your system ...

The thread was located in the hardware forum and was called "WinXP & Max 7".

    Hope that helps,
    Andrea

I think .. should be this:

Someone is speaking also about more switches with /3gb

      like: /fastdetect /3GB /sos /maxmem /userva

      or this also:

I'm interested also, so better i read carefully all posts.
