  • reflect only grey value ?

    Hello,

is it possible to have a reflection in a material that only reflects a grey value of the color environnement ?

    Thanks!

In post, mask out the object and subtract it's reflection element from the beauty. Add back in the reflection element and mask out everything but grey from it
    Kind Regards,

Depends is it only affecting one material or all the materials. Otherwise you could work with a material override in some way.

just one material (in fact is it a metal material where i do not want color reflection because the environnement influences too much the color of the metal)

There's an environment slot in the vray mtl that'll do this I think? Whatever you put in here gets used instead of the max environment slot so you could next your reflection map into a colour correct and desat?

Hmm, I don't think osl can do it since it doesn't handle the raytracing calculations, vray does in this case so you'd need custom functions there to change the coloured reflection result to grey - post it is :/

there's no direct way i can think of of de-saturating the reflection per material.
