Progressive won't allow for tiled, bufferless rendering, plus it'll "touch" all the tiled textures and proxies in the scene very early on, and keep poking at them throughout the rendering phase, preventing any unloading.
So if your scene is short on RAM, bucket is the one you want to go with.
Progressive is fine if everything fits nicely in RAM, for all the reasons posted above.
