  • Random shadow flashing

In all of my animations I'm getting a strange effect. Some of the shadow areas tend to get darker and lighter across multiple frames creating a strobing effect. I'm sure it is just a matter of increasing a setting, but I'm not sure which one. Here are my settings, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

could you maybe post an example avi of your problem? It would help alot. It could be different contributing factors, and just your render settings might not be enough info.

      Hi ..

It could be that your not taking enough sample's for that lookup method, also your qmc settings are very low .. try 10 and 10

Natty: Do you mean 10 in the Adaptive Amount and Minimum Samples?

He meant the QMC GI and upping the hmsph. subdivs.

Thanks for the clarification RErender. Do you have any suggested settings for Hmsph?

Also here is a link to the animation. The compression masks most of the minor flashing, but you can clearly see flashing shadows on top of the tooth the tool lands on. Also notice the random red flashes from the light attatched to the tool, very strange. There are also a few bad frames in the mix too which need to be rerendered, not sure what causes that either.
