  • How to do fog coming out of a room like this ?

    Hey guys,
    I'm currently working on a scene like the image attached. Is it possible to achieve a similar fog effect (without phoenix etc.) only with 3dsmax+vray? It's for some still renderings only.
    I could do with a nudge in the right direction.

    Model the base mesh and use that as an object for environmentfog, then use noise maps in the density slot of environment fog to create the cloudy effect.

      To get a good result you will probably need a smoke sim, from phoenix or a VDB from houduni of something.
      You can try loading this simple ground smoke frame into a Volume grid to see how they work, just set rendering type to smoke preset and then adjust the curves to suit
