  • Max 2019 vray mats in material editor not saving in maxstart?

This used to be possible but after so many permutations of trying, I could not get this to work in 2019. Anyone had any luck?

assuming you're using the default from the UI switcher, you need to edit the .mat file here:
    C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMa x\2019 - 64bit\ENU\en-US\defaults\MAX\Medit.mat

Basically you can set the default slots to whatever you want and save those 24 slots into a mat, replacing the one above. If you're using the default UI switcher, then that mat is the one that will be loaded when max starts, regardless of what is saved in your maxstart file
