  • plugin node mtl: rounded edges mtl

so trying to get some use out of the pluginnodemtl ( ive asked for NEXT nightly access so i can use some of the broken ones)

one interesting one was the rounded edges mtl, which appears to have a map slot for the radius, which has been on my wishlist forever.

(it would be nice if when this is asked for in the wishlist, somebody points out its already hidden in here...)

it also has a functioning basemtl slot, so should work.

in any case, oddly, with a vraymtl as the base material, in next GPU, i get rounded edges. if i assign a map, it just changes overall radius but its not varied.

in next CPU, it just doesnt do anything. map in slot or not.

not often something works better on gpu than cpu....

even more oddly - during lightcache calculation on next GPU i can actually see the map varying the radius, before the gpu render kicks in and gives a fixed radius.

however when rendering with CPU, even the lightcache shows a render without rounding.

i suggest its just broken eh?

until we get some decent documentation for these new plugin bits, i have a feeling im going to be starting lots of very similar threads!

can we please have this working, ideally for cpu AND gpu? its super useful for real-world worn objects.

Thanks for the pointer; will check what's going on, but in general the correct solution would be to add the texture radius to the VRayEdgesTex, which we will do.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
