    Hi everybody

    This is probably a no brainer. I have been trying to render this damned kitchen scene 7hrs still some grain, and when i go large setting my subdivs to 50000 my max bombs. Ok the rez was hi 5000x3750, anybody got any thoughts??

    Looking good.

    Have you tried saving the PPT solution, then using it for the second bounce?

      Did not occur to me. Would that not mean doing the ppt calc at half the final rez and then saving it. I got up to 10000 subdivs and it wont go high enough to give me a smooth solution. It should be possible to go higher with enough ram, I am using 1.5gb on my systemat the mo. At 50000 subdivs max crashes, at 20000 the render dialogue flashes up and then shuts down (not crashes) I love this 3d business, you start off with hair and then........

        I think that this is not directly related to the light cache subdivs, but to your render resolution; a 5000x3750 image would require about 700MB additionally to render in ppt mode. Currently VRay tries to allocate this memory in one continuous block - it is possible that this will often fail. It might work if you restart 3dsmax though.
