  • VRay displacement hardware recommendation

    Hi all,
I was wondering if there was any hardware recommendations regarding hardware to speed up displacement. I am assuming the best CPU possible would be the answer but was wondering if there was a specific advice. I know nothing about the way vray uses hardware and my tech knowledge is very limited. If there was already a discussion, please point me toward it, thanks

I don't know about hardware, but usually you could speed up the displacement by increasing the edge length parameter and/or subdividing the mesh before rendering so that V-Ray will have to do less calculation at render time.

Thanks you for the feedback. It seems that displacement is working a little better in the latest versions, but still not as useable as in Octane for example. Still, much better (could be new hardware too).

Vray displacement have tons of settings and it’s incredibly efficient and fast provided you know how to use it try to explore both the 2d and 3d mode and try to understand what edge length and subdivision parameter do.
