    Hi guys,

    What's the safest way to cut out light fixture circles out of a plane ? Used a plane for ceiling with extruded areas.. now I need fixtures in it.. what's the safest way.

    Model it with splines.. its the best and cleanest way .. let me show you..


    Create the rectangle and the circles inside



    Edit the rectangle with edit spline and attach the rest of the circles



    Then Extrude

      I converted it into an editable poly ofcourse.. don't like boolean..

        Now you can covert to a poly and edit and extrude the areas you need to ..

            I know natty.. but I did some work already on the ceiling.. guess I will have to rebuild the mothaf********.. heheh.. stupid me..

              you might not necessarily have to remodel it if you have already converted to poly. Try the shape merge operation. Works perfectly most of the time.

                Yeah good one ..that could work quite well .. Just make sure your plane is well subdivided.
