Hello,
I've downloaded Vray trial and will be upgrading soon from Vray 3, I have one main point so far for Chaosgroup that I was really hoping they would fix this time around.
SSS and more SSS issues:
- Skin in Vray has always been a problem for many of us. Vray SSS2 while fast has many problems when it comes to consistency with lighting and quality of scatter. this has become a no go to option for skin for us in many cases, so instead we switched to Alsurface shader. This shader is the real deal and very consistent SSS shader with proper and correct scattering but its SLOOWW very SLOOW and noisy. This was slow in Vray 3 but I was surprised to see that it is almost equally slow in Vray Next and it seems neglected somehow.
- We still don't have SSS sets! This is one of the other core issues, the famous green muddy intersection line shows up every time two different objects sharing same SSS intersect, think Eyes! and inner mouth, nails. Arnold has this issue covered I hope we see this in Vray soon.
