  • How to REALLY know how much VRAM left?

Tools like nvidia inspector show different numbers: I have dual 2080 RTX with NVlink on (SLI on) - so theoretically I should have 16000MB in total. While rendering heavy scene, nvidia inspector shows I have mem usage (per card) like almost 100% (7900MB) but at the same time vray render stats in upper corner of the rendered image say there is 4Gigs free. Does it mean I've used 12Gigs out of 16? To be honest, there is no way to get non-confusing memory readout right now. So we just pray our scene will stand without having to resize textures down...

With NVLINK you don't exactly double your memory. For example the geometry is copied on both cards.

There is an improved memory reporting coming with the next update.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Can there be a mod with maximum out of core vram management ? So it will lag as hell, but will render no matter what ?
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

Out of core is in the plans. We will try to make it work with the less possible impact on the performance as possible.

To answer your original question, recent versions of Windows 10 (maybe 1803 onwards?) have a GPU section under the Performance tab in the Task Manager. This contains info such as utilisation, dedicated and shared usage. And a graph or two.
