  • Multipart .EXR + Denoiser?

    Hello,

I've been doing some testing with the VDenoise tool and I've noticed that if I check the "exr multipart" option in the VRayOptionRE element, when I try to use the tool my only options are for the RGB color + Alpha elements. With multipart off, the full list of elements is visible. Is this a limitation? Are the multipart EXR's actually read noticeably faster?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

This is something we have to improve for our future releases.

Are the multipart EXR's actually read noticeably faster?
Yep, there should be faster reading/updating for multi-channel exr's when working in compositing.

Thanks for the reply tashko.zashev ! I'll look forward to that update. Is there any chance VRayOptionRE support will be added to GPU rendering?

      Thanks!

Do you need any specific settings of the OptionRE to be working in GPU ?

            Hi,
I would really, really love to get the dwaa Compression and the exr multipart option for GPU.

Its very important for fusion compers.
In fusion sequences that are saved with the multipart option are handled differently. You can choose which channel should be used for rgb at once which is a huge time saver.
The 100x faster loading is very welcome too
German guy, sorry for my English.

Thanks! I'll add this in our list of future improvements of the GPU engine and will post here when we have any news to share.

chadstevens I don't know about Multipart, but if you add the VRayOptionRE element in CPU mode, you can use DWAA compression with the GPU when you switch back...at least helps with file size!

Yeah, I did notice that if you choose the option in CPU and then revert back to GPU it does seem to still affect the output, but I've not done much testing on it.
When I imported it into Fusion it did look like it came in as a multi-part exr which is promising.

                    Cheers.

Hi, denoiser still cannot be used with multipart enabled? Nothing new here?
