  • Backing up all plugins and scripts for a new installation

I did it again: uninstalling a different version of 3ds max with an geek uninstaller, which also erased the license for the version I am currently using.
Now I had to uninstall and reinstall 3ds max, which is already painfully slow as it gets, but afterwards I have to re-setup my whole plugins etc.
With a saved ENU folder the GUI is taken care of and most scripts didnt get erased so they work fine, but all the plugins need to be reinstalled - and I have quite a few.

Does anybody know if there is a way to backup everything in one go and easily get it back after a clean installation?

I've been looking for a way to do this too but alas haven't found a proper way either. They should implement a way to do this properly as they start realizing the community around scripts and plugins for max is big and people rely heavily on these. There was a script manager on scriptspot a long time ago: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/sc...xscriptmanager but it doesn't work (anymore).

damn, that would have been a nice script to have. too bad.
so you are also just reinstalling everything by hand?
it must be easy to script it though. I mean, the installed scripts and files just have to get back to their original destination, no?

Yes I always do it by hand. But at the same time it's also a way to check if I still need them installed, I sometimes switch to better / more complete scripts or come to the conclusion I barely use them and then leave them uninstalled.
