  • What is the best thing to use for this

    Hi all,

Am currently working on a rough/test water fountain animation/loop (you know one of those fountains you get in public places that is flush with the ground that kids run around in) using 3DS max fluid sim. I'm wondering once I've made this 200 frame animation what is the best way to use it? Export to alembic? Load it as a proxy?

The plan is to simulate one or two of these, then have many instances of it and simply offset the frames to create the effect of "dancing" fountains.

    Any help/insights much appreciated.

In Maya, loading .abc files into a proxy mesh works very well (create/vray/importProxy). You can load the alembic file directly into there. I would assume the same would be in 3dsmax.
