  • Back-painted glass, and thin glass refraction

Hello. I need to render a product that features a back-painted glass, let's say something like this:

So if I do this using Face IDs/multi-subobject, it will result in a thin layered glass object because the glass is no longer a shell, so will this affect the refraction accuracy? Would it be a physically incorrect set up?

you can model it as 2 separate objects and put the back painting object just inside the glass. shell it slightly, make sure it's not a thin plane coexisting with the glass back.

Thank you for the suggestion Neilg.

I have a follow up question if you don't mind, if using a single sided refractive material is undesirable, how do you model a swimming pool, single plane, or a box that follows the shape of the pool?

Just like you would an ocean, single plane.
