EDIT: are you saying that its taking awhile for you too? Only thing I can think of is that everything has glossies on it one way or another.

looks like the issue was that my concrete material was ALOT more bumpy then I thought it was, so from far away it just looked like noise, but close up you could see the detail. A conrete surface that bumpy wouldn't be that shiny so it looked strange. Thanks for the help guys.

Sorry to come in at the end of this - but I think the issue here is the AA filter - not the Sampler.

These fiters modify the pixel edges in the end - no matter how it is rendered.

Catmull-Rom is way to sharp for on-screen viewing. I think it is unrealistic even for print. If you have any sample grain left from low samples - this AA filter will only mangify the problem - as illustrated above by flipside.

                  http://www.bcart.dk/Tutorials_AAfiltre.htm

Doesn't really have much tech info - but shows some differences. I think maybe I am thinking of "Digital Lighting and Rendering" or "CG Techniques"? It has been a while since I cracked a book....

                  Oops, just saw this one:

Notice how the AA changes not only the thin lines (obviously) but the way the ref map looks.
