  • Leather Sofa Creases

Does anyone have good strategies for putting wrinkles and creases in a leather sofa similar to the picture below?

We model in Rhino and Render in VRay. Trying to model the creases requires a very dense mesh. We've tried bump maps without any great progress. Any help is appreciated.

yeah keep a fairly low resolution mesh you can unwrap. then paint a displacement map. the vray displacement using the subdivision should look pretty good.

      Hello!

Displacement map would be my option too, but if ur too lazy for that, you can try making some subdivisions only in the parts you plan to put wrinkles to, but keeping the whole mesh lightweight (aka lowpoly :P ). Then, convert to editable poly and add a turbosmooth on top of that, with iterations 2 or 3. Then go back to your editable poly, select polygon and roll to paint defomation section. There u can paint your wrinkles and u can see them in high poly due to the turbosmooth modifier on top. DonĀ“t forget to check Show end result to be able to see what ur doing!

      Cheers!
