Render farm hard drive HELP!!!

I work in an architectural office. We are looking at buying a dedicated hard drive for all work done in 3D studio, so we don't have to compete with other backups etc.. going on with our main server.
The unit we found doesn't have an IP adress to configure. (We think this may be a problem when trying to set up DR.)
We haven't set up our system to use DR yet, but we worry this wont allow us to in the future. Its been along time since I've used DR in 3D studio, so I am asking someone who may have set up DR recently with 3D studio and Vray.

BTW we are on Viz 2005.

I would never trust a single drive to hold my working files, Im running a couple SATA Mirror Raid's here in my file server and it works great and if a HD actually fails, I just pull the bad drive, drop in a new one and its automatically updated and most important, no files are lost

I saw a TB NAS array the other day for under $1000, that would be my choice

I have 2 dual 933 2U rackmount render slaves for sale - $350 or $600 for both. The HD would need upgrades - but the rest is a fine box for cheap.

1 gb SD ram.
