  • Phoenix Render elements for fire and smoke

I used Phoenix for about 12 months a few years ago (when it first came out) it maybe be my funky memory but I was sure there were smoke and fire render elements.

I cannot see them in the render element list - were they ever there? Can we get them in there somehow cos it's very lacking not to have render elements to be able to separate them in comp.

There aren't such elements, however, you can extract fire and smoke information in a separate element via the VRayAtmoshpere (Fire and Smoke) and VRaySelfIllumination (Fire) elements. Additionally, changing the simulation's Rendering mode to 'Volumetric geometry' would allow you to create a matte, which can be used for masking purposes.
