i noticed a maya thread here where somebody was discussing the "vraywater" 2d procedural.

i had never heard of it before, but seems its a maya-specific map.

given i was recently searching for a decent procedural sea displacement which is better than the usual noise/smoke/cellular hacking i do, this was interesting.

great! i thought, if its a maya/vray procedural it will be in the "vrayplugintex" map in max...

    nope!

    any particular reason?

what would be great would be a nice procedural map, possibly based around distance tex in some way, which would do waves which interact approximately well with a coastline. im not talking about full on phoenix sims..

ive fiddled in this direction myself before, but have so far been unable to get a particularly good result.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the Phoenix ocean shader work all the time with only having a trial installed? I seem to remember that being suggested....

EDIT: I trawled (pun intended ) and found the thread... https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...lievable-ocean
