  • Adaptive Dome artifacts

Is there a setting somewhere I can adjust that could lessen or eliminate the blocky Adaptive Dome artifacts? In a lot of cases the noise threshold isn't doing anything about it for me.

    Thanks
    - Geoff

    Hello,

Could you send over a sample of the scene where the issue is present to philip.shounev@chaosgroup.com ?

    Best,

Well, it's kind of a massive scene nearly 5km square, which I suspect might be part of the what's causing it. Would it help if I sent you a video of it?

Not sure if the video would help. There shouldn't be any artifacts with the adaptive dome light. If the scene is large, you can write an email to support@chaosgroup.com and our support team will provide you with an FTP access to upload the scene.

Just sent an email with a link to a Google Drive folder that contains the giant environment, and a preview-quality movie that I made of it.

Thanks for providing the full version of your scene. The artifacts appear because the interior fragments of the scene are relatively dark and rely mostly on GI. Additional tests might be required on our end. However, I would recommend switching to Light Cache / Animation preset, which will result in turning up the subdivs and retrace values.

                Hi,

Would it be possible to provide an archive with the aforementioned scene for examination to philip.shounev@chaosgroup.com ?

Thanks for the scene; can you tell me which V-Ray version you are using? The scene seems to render fine here with the latest V-Ray Next, Update 3.

                    Best regards,
                    Vlado

                      Hi Vlado
I using the Vray NEXT, update 2.1 (because when i tested update 3.1 the NVIDIA denoise AI worked not well than the update 2.1, for me )
Maybe update 3.1 more clearly but update 2.1 more faster =)

And thank you very much Vlado!
I tested this scene with update 3.0 and 3.1
And in this case everything works cool.
