  • V-Ray Proxy in time

    hi,
lately I came around to working with v-ray proxies more and using them proved a pleasure, especially when setting up a camera and heavy scene while navigating in IPR. However I found whenever I move the timeslider (for testing my animated camera), the entire geometry would cache from scratch with each frame, so no more fluent workflow.

Is there any remedy or secret setting that would prevent the proxy-meshes to reload each time I jump to another frame in time?
Besides the camera nothing is animated in the scene. Any hint would be helpful.

Is this happening in the viewport? Could you share a scene and proxy where the issue is present so we can take a look? You may send it to support@chaosgroup.com; mention this thread in the e-mail.

At this point, V-Ray Proxy is being reloaded whenever switching between frames in IPR or rendering frame by frame. I have reported to our system "the caching of V-Ray Proxy in IPR" as a future improvement (VMAX-9569) and I will keep you update with any progress.

Thankyou Viktoria. I'd be surprised if I was the only one who has stumpled upon this.

It is on the "to do" list to optimize the scene updates when moving the time slider - not just for proxies, but in general.

          Best regards,
