  • Job Pricing

    Hi all,
Just a quick question about 3d visual charges if I may ask. How much would you charge for interior visuals of a restaurant (see samples attached) 10 renders in total in UHD including 1 revision (changes in design around 30% of the initial design).

    Cheers

Maybe, for the second image, I would charge $1200, the first image around $500. The third image would be around $900.

I'd say a little more than what Bobby quotes for the second image, more like $1500-$2000, but I'd most likely put a little more detail and life into it. The finishes look a little generic at this point (unless that's what they are going for) so I'd imagine that there's more work to get that last 20%: bar and table materials, counter stuff, etc. etc. It's not bad at all, in fact it's quite nice, just that the last 20% can take as much as the other 80%. Plus if you're doing 10 images the first might be this price but then the others might be only a few hundred each, provided it's just point and shoot.

BTW- those stools at the bar counter look huge compared the other table stools. Is everything sized correctly?

That's good to hear. I was waiting for, "Bobby, you are crazy, those are $200 renderings!". If you ever want to get a feeling for prices, ask someone good to help on your project and you'll find they'll ask for more than you'll get for the whole project, just for their part. I asked a few talented texture artists awhile back how much they would charge just for texture mapping and their numbers were about the same as I was charging for the whole project. Think about it this way, what would you pay someone per hour to do something? Take that number and double it, this is what you should charge.

I agree with bobby, it is very hard to find someone to collaborate with, as price from the client is lower than expected.

I used to work with the architect and it was pretty simple. I would give a price and they would double it and charge their client. The price wouldn't come out of their percentage, but I think what happened is, the architect started including the rendering, as a by-product of the building information model, in their percentage. It is both good and bad. It is good because I get a lot of clients who come to me because the architect's renderings aren't very good and they can't use it. It is bad because I get fewer architects, who tended to pay more. Unfortunately, there is an architect on every corner, so they are all trying to make a profit, charging 2-3% of construction cost.
