  • Help A Newb Out - Bump/Normal Mapping ToonMtl

I see that there's no slot for a bump map in the ToonMtl. Is this a planned future feature? What could be a workaround? It would be nice to get surface details without having to resort to displacement or a high poly model.

Try using a VRayBumpMtl, in the base material of which you plug the VRayToonMtl and a bump map in its designated slot.

      Thank you, that works!

Any chance the VrayToon atmospheric effect can be made to detect bump mapping? I suspect there's a technical limitation there that doesn't make it possible.

No, it cannot, since it works with geometry normals. You can, however, try using displacement and see if that works out for you.
