  • interpolated glossys and animation flickering

What are the best settings for using reflection interpolation in an animation. Using the default -3,0 with Interp Samples at 20 results in a great deal of flickering. What settings might save time and stop the flickering?

    Using 1.09.03r

    Thanks!

20 samples is no enough...40-50 will help but, i'd just go with standart glossy and 10-15 subdiv...

I think that is a slight understatment...In fact we should have a prize for someone managing to get anything interpolating not flickering in an animation..

For stills where you have objects with less detail and glossy reflection, you can use interp. glossies with 70-80 samples and 40-50 subdivs. They are not suitable for animations though.

I think that the downsides of interpolated glossy materials when used in animation should be stated in the documentation if its not already.

                      Reflect interpolation

These determine the options for the interpolation of glossy reflections. They are very similar to the options for the irradiance map. Note that it is not recommended to use interpolation for animations, since this may cause severe flickering.

                      It is stated...
