  • hdr images look darker on 100% reflective material

    Hi,

Look at the pic below. Why does the reflection of the hdr image on a 100% reflective sphere have way more contrast than the same map opened in hdr shop? When I up the multiplier, the reflections get lighter of course but the high contrast remains the same.

Every hdr I tried has this problem. Also with the brazil hdri loader.

Is it supposed to look this way??

I suppose that HDRshop applies additional transformation on the image colors (probably gamma correction).

      Best regards,

Yes, I noticed that hdr shop uses a display gamma correction. If I set this at 1, the hdr looks identical as that in the rendering. But the light/dark balance of the hdr is completely different than that of the original pics. Anyaone else have experience with creating hdri's? How can I get the hdr look the same as the original pics?

(the famous hdri's like kitchen probe and ufizi also have the same problem)

        thanks,
